Rose-Alma Ouellette ( La Poune ; born August 25, 1903 in Montreal , † September 14, 1996 there ) was a Canadian comedian, actress and singer.

Ouellette grew up in a working-class family in southeast Montreal. Only three of her twenty siblings reached adulthood. She herself stood on stage for the first time when she was twelve and left school as a teenager to work in a shoe factory. She also performed in the Ouimetoscope and in the Lune rousse , where she was discovered by Paul Hébert , who brought her to the King Edward Palace as a vaudeville actress. At the same time she met her stage partner Olivier Guimond . Both performed together as La Pune and Ti-Zoune until old age.

In 1928 Ouellette became manager of the Théâtre Cartier in Saint-Henri and founded a vaudeville company, which Juliette Pétrie also belonged to, with whom she continued to work for decades. With Paul Hébert, Aurèle Dumont and Théo Brûlotte she also recorded skits and humorous songs during this time. In 1936 she became the manager of the Théâtre National , which she directed with great success for more than fifteen years.

The most famous actors from Québec have performed here such as Juliette Pétrie , Manda Parent , Hector Pellerin , Georges Leduc , Paul Desmarteaux , Juliette Huot , Juliette Béliveau , Rose Rey-Duzil , Olivier Guimond junior and senior, Pierre Thériault , Jacques Normand , Léo Rivest and Claude Blanchard . In the evening she performed her most successful song, C'est d'la faute à poupa , and the singer Alys Robi made her debut at the age of thirteen .

In 1953, Oullette joined Jean Grimaldi's company , with whom she toured Québéc for several years. From 1958 she worked in the cabaret scene with actors such as Juliette Pétrie , Gerry Morelle , Simone Mercier , Gaston Boileau and Louis Armel . From 1967 to 1993 she performed at Gilles Latulippes Théâtre des Variétés .

As a film actress, she has appeared in films such as Cœur de maman (1953) by René Delacroix , L'Apparition (1972) by Roger Cardinal and Les Aventures d'une jeune veuve (1974) by Roger Fournier . In 1960 she made her television debut in the play Les Deux Valses by André Laurendeau . Small roles in soaps like Rue des Pignons , Chère Isabelle , Les Brillant and Les Moineau et les Pinson followed . In 1991 she went on a tour with the singer Roger Sylvain .

Ouellette published the books Vous faire rire, c'est ma vie (1983) and Comment atteindre le bel âge en grande forme (1985). In 1985 she was awarded the Rose d'or , and in 1990 she received the Ordre national du Québec . In 1998 the broadcaster SRC published the documentary "Le Siècle de Rose Ouellette .
