Roger Fournier

Roger Fournier (born October 22, 1929 in Saint-Anaclet-de-Lessard , † May 31, 2012 in Montreal ) was a Canadian writer and film director .

Fournier attended Rimouski's seminary and studied at Laval University . From 1954 he worked as a television director for Radio Canada Montréal. He returned to Paris to continue his education at the Sorbonne , but soon became assistant director to Claude Autant-Lara . He also studied drama with René Simon .

In 1959 he returned to Canada, where he began to write and produced programs such as Moi et l'autre and La bande des six for Radio Canada . From 1986 he worked as a freelance writer and director. He has written for journals and magazines such as Châtelaine , Perspectives , Écrits du Canada français , Liberté and Le Petit Journal and authored twenty novels, including La danse éternelle and Les sirènes du Saint-Laurent . For Les cornes sacrées he received the Prix ​​Louis-Barthon of the Académie française in 1977 and for Le Cercle des arènes in 1982 the Prix ​​du Gouverneur général pour romans et nouvelles and the Prix ​​Québec-Paris .
