Julio César Rapela

Julio César Rapela Santamaría ( 1926 - October 11, 2004 ) was a Uruguayan politician .

General Julio César Rapela, who was part of the extended circle of Gregorio Álvarez , worked in the Logia de los Tenientes de Artigas from 1965 and thus since it was founded . He also took part in the events surrounding the coup in June 1973. In August 1981 he was appointed head of the División de Ejército I within the Uruguayan army . On February 1, 1984, he went into military retirement. In the final phase of the civil-military dictatorship in Uruguay, he then held the post of interior minister of the country from February 10, 1984 to February 13, 1985. He died at the age of 78 after a long illness.
