Julius Fritzner

Julius Fritzner (born December 28, 1828 in Skjeberg ; † February 12, 1882 in Kristiania, today Oslo ) was the founder of the most prestigious hotel in Oslo to date.

Life

Fritzner was the second youngest of six siblings, trained as a confectioner and opened a pastry shop in Kristiania in 1861. As a result, he became the manager of the café of a Masonic lodge and established valuable contacts. In 1873 he was allowed to organize the culinary activities of King Oskar II's coronation . In 1874 he opened the Grand Café and Grand Hotel on today's Karl Johans gate, which was a little further away from the city center . After his death, his son Christian succeeded him.
