Julius Lien (born July 17, 1872 in Neustadt bei Coburg ; † September 16, 1962 in St. Jakob bei Leutenberg , Thuringia ) was a German bookbinder and local poet.

Live and act

After completing an apprenticeship as a bookbinder, Julius Lien went on a wandering tour in his native city and settled down as a bookbinder in Jena from around 1900 . In 1908 he moved his bookbinding workshop to the then independent town of Lobeda , now Lobeda-Altstadt, a district of Jena. He remained loyal to this city with its Lobdeburg throughout his life. In addition to his bookbinding workshop, he ran a stationery shop and various postcard publishers. In 1912 he was one of the founders of the “Friends of Lobdeburg”, a mountain community that is still known today as “Lobdeburg-Gemeinde 1912 e. V. “exists. Here he was the “Fürsteher” (chairman) between 1919 and 1926 and developed into a local poet. His poems, which were sung to well-known melodies, glorify Lobeda, the Lobdeburg and the social life of the Lobdeburg friends.
