Julius Ritter von Kink

Julius Ritter von Kink (born April 21, 1848 in Bregenz , † January 25, 1909 in Vienna ) was an Austrian manufacturer, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a member of parliament.

Von Kink was the son of the state building director and cement industrialist Martin von Kink . He was of Roman Catholic denomination and married Maria Theresia (Marie) von Neumann in 1880. The couple had two sons and two daughters. His son Martin Kink (1885–1973) was President of the Vienna Industrial Association from 1934–1938 and President of the Chamber of Commerce for Vienna from 1946–1960. His daughter Martina von Kink, a mathematician with a doctorate, married the music teacher Franz Haböck in 1907 .

Von Kink attended grammar school in Graz until 1866 and then technical colleges in Graz and Zurich. In 1869 he joined the management of the cement factory in Kufstein (Tyrol). After the factory was sold in 1872, he became a member of the board of directors. From 1900 he was Vice President and from 1906 to 1909 President of the new owner AG of the kk priv. Hydr. Lime and Portland cement factory in Perlmoos . Since 1874 he was partner and managing director of the "Martin Kink & Co. Heinrichsthaler paper factory" (since 1908 in the legal form of an AG) in Heinrichsthal / Jindřichov (municipality Wüstseibersdorf / Pusté Žibřidovice, today municipality Jindřichov, district Mährisch Schönberg / Šumperk, Moravia).

In addition, he was extensively involved in association work. 1888–1904 he was President of the Association of Austrian-Hungarian Paper Manufacturers. In 1892 he was a founding member and vice-president and 1900–1904 president of the Central Association of Austrian Industrialists . Between 1905 and 1909 he was President of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce and Industry . From 1898 to 1905 he was vice-president of the Danube Association for the Promotion of River and Canal Shipping , since 1901 the Central Association for River and Canal Shipping in Austria. From 1904 to 1909 he was director of the association of the First Austrian Spar-Casse in Vienna.

1897-1907 he was a member of the House of Representatives . In the IX. (March 27, 1897 to September 7, 1900) and X legislative period (January 31, 1901 to January 30, 1907) he represented Lower Austria and the Vienna Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the House of Representatives. In parliament he was a member of the Free German Association in 1897 (from October 19, 1899 as chairman) and from 1901 of the German Progressive Party . On June 14, 1907, he was made a member of the manor for life. In the mansion he was a member of the Constitutional Club .

He died in 1909 by suicide in Vienna. He is buried in the Central Cemetery in Vienna . His grave is an honor grave .
