Julius Weber (born September 11, 1840 in Duisburg , † September 20, 1934 in Glücksburg ) was a German entrepreneur and local politician.

Life

Karl August Weber's son completed a commercial apprenticeship and initially worked in the textile industry. In 1870 he switched to the management of the chemical company Matthes & Weber , which his father co-founded , where he expanded the soda factory. He was also a co-founder of the Duisburg copper smelter .

He was a member of the Duisburg-Ruhrort Chamber of Commerce for 40 years , nine years of which as chairman. From 1892 to 1919 Weber was also a member of the Duisburg city ​​council .

In 1928 he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Duisburg and in 1939 a street was named after him there.
