Jumbo was an Italian progressive rock band that was formed in Milan around 1969 .
Band history
Band founder Alvaro Fella recorded two singles under his nickname Jumbo in 1970 with Franz Di Cioccio, Flavio Premoli (both from PFM predecessor Quelli) and Mario Lavezzi for the Numero Uno label. After signing a contract with Philips , Fella recorded a self-titled debut album as Jumbo in 1971 with a new line-up . By 1973, two more albums followed, which were musically more mature than the debut and represented a quite independent mixture of blues , jazz and prog rock with aggressive singing and provocative lyrics.
Another single was released in 1975, the band performed live until 1976 and then fell apart. Since 1983 there have been several brief reunions of Jumbos in different line-ups, during which two live albums, a compilation and video recordings were made.
