Jumbo games
Jumbo Spiele is a brand of the Dutch game publisher Hausemann & Hötte .
The German businessman Engelbert Theodor Zacharias Gottfried Hausemann (born October 4, 1815 in Mengede ) founded a general store in Amsterdam in 1853. From 1860, his 17-year-old nephew Wilhelm Arnold Hötte (baptized February 4, 1847 in Westhofen) worked in the business. Hötte founded his own company in 1873. In 1882 both merged and "Hausemann & Hötte" was founded. When the childless Hausemann withdrew from the company in 1887, Hötte kept the company name "Hausemann & Hötte". In 1905 Hausemann & Hötte was converted into a stock corporation with 203,000 guilders equity, whose shares were held by Wilhelm Hötte and his two sons Gustav and Max. After Wilhelm's death, Gustav Hötte became the new director. In 1921 the turnover was 650,000 guilders.
From 1930 wooden toys were sold under the Jumbo brand , which is how the symbol of the elephant came about. From 1958 the game Stratego was sold with great success. The annual turnover in 2007 was given as a good 30 million euros . On July 19, 2007, Jumbo was taken over by the M&R De Monchy group of companies.
