Jun'ichi Ishida ( Japanese 石田純一 , Ishida Jun'ichi ; born January 14, 1954 in Tokyo Prefecture as Ishida Tarō 太郎 ) is a Japanese actor.

Life

Ishida was born in Tokyo Prefecture in 1954 and lived in the United States from the age of three to six since his father was a correspondent for the NHK . He attended Waseda University , but dropped out. He then went to Pasadena (California) for a year to study theater studies. In 1982 he had his breakthrough in the international television production Marco Polo and then played in 1984 in the Australian miniseries The Cowra Breakout . In 1988 he married the actress Chiaki Matsubara from whom he divorced in 1999. He was then married to actress Rie Hasegawa until 2004 . In 2009 he married the professional golfer Riko Higashio . He has three children.
