Jung Il-woo (born March 28, 1986 ) is a South Korean shot putter .

Athletic career

Jung Il-woo gained his first international experience at the 2010 Asian Games , where he finished eighth with 16.94 m. In 2013 he was fourth at the East Asian Games in Tianjin with 18.14 m. The following year he again took part in the Asian Games in his native Incheon and reached eighth place again with 18.17 m. At the Indoor Asian Championships 2016 in Doha , he was sixth with 17.45 m. In the following year he took part in the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat and won the bronze medal there with 19.24 m behind Kazakhs Iwan Iwanow and Tejinder Pal Singh from India. In 2018 he took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the third time and finished fourth with 19.15 m. At the Asian Championships in Doha, he reached sixth place with a width of 18.64 m.

In 2013, 2015 and 2016 and from 2018 to 2020 , Jung was the South Korean champion in the shot put.
