Juozas Kupčinskas

Juozas Kupčinskas (born March 25, 1906 in Parausiai, district Vilkaviškis ; † January 26, 1971 in Kaunas ) was a Lithuanian internist.

Life

He grew up in a farming family. In 1924 he graduated from the high school Marijampolė and from 1924 studied in the Department of Biology at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics of the Lietuvos universitetas . From 1928 to 1932 he completed his studies at the Faculty of Medicine of the Vytauto Didžiojo universitetas (VDU). From 1932, Kupčinskas taught at the VDU and received his doctorate in 1937 on the subject of "Ūminio reumato etiologijos ir patogenezės klausimu". 1939 qualified as a professor on the subject of “Širdies funkcijos tyrimas”. From 1941 he was a professor . From 1944 to 1946 he was Vice Rector and from 1947 to 1950 Rector of the Kauno valstybinis universitetas . From 1951 to 1954 he was a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of Soviet Lithuania . From 1951 to 1971 he taught at the Kauno medicinos institutas and from 1951 to 1953 he was the rector of the institute.

His grave is in the Petrašiūnai cemetery .
