Jupiter was a comic from Bastei Verlag and appeared there monthly from 1972 to 1975. The small format album ( DIN A5 ) was completely in color, had a softcover and cost 1 DM , later 1.50 DM (12 ÖS , 1.90 sFr ).

The style of Jupiter was Funny , so the characters were not depicted realistically. The stories were set in ancient Rome , the main characters were Jupiter (small and smart), horse breeder and racing driver who was invincible because of a belt from Mars, the god of war , Cassius (big and strong), a club carver, and papagallus, marauder, woman lover and dice player . The main characters of the Schlawiner were Hermann, his tenderly brutal wife Schmeralda and the two friends Scharly and Schlibowitz.

According to Andreas C. Knigge, Jupiter , according to Harald Havas an “ Asterix - Epigone ” was one of the “ stupid series for a very young readership ” brought to the market by Bastei and was “ only able to achieve limited success ”.
