Juraj Beneš

Juraj Beneš (born March 2, 1940 in Trnava ; † October 1, 2004 in Bratislava ) was a Slovak composer , teacher and pianist .

Beneš studied at the University of Music in Bratislava with Ján Cikker , who is one of the most important Slovak composers. Since 1983 he has been teaching as a lecturer at the same university.

Beneš orients himself in his works on current compositional directions. His oeuvre encompasses all genres, with Beneš's operas occupying a prominent position. He sometimes uses the human voice in conjunction with unusual instrument combinations.
