Yuri Kuznetsov
Jurij Anatolijowytsch Kuznetsov ( Ukrainian Юрій Анатолійович Кузнецов , also Jury Kuznetsov , born July 11, 1953 in Odessa , Ukrainian SSR ; † May 2, 2016 ) was a Ukrainian jazz pianist .
Jurij Kuznetsov played a. a. in the Anatoli Wapirow Septet and Sextet as well as in Vladimir Tarasov 's Russian Orchestra. He was also the founder and art director of the international jazz festival Jazz Carnival in Odessa and chairman of the High Music club . He was named an Honored Artist of Ukraine . Musically he moved in the spectrum from classical to experimental and avant-garde jazz. He also worked as a music teacher in Odessa and wrote music for plays. He died on the night of May 2, 2016 after a long illness.
