Jursitzky is the name of an old Polish noble family . 1404 Watzlaw Jursitzky was registered in the Krakow aristocratic registers under the Topór coat of arms .

Surname

The original family name "Jurczycki z Jurczyc" is derived from the first name Georg (Slavic Juri), and means son of George (Jurczycki). Over the centuries, the name changed to the German version Jursitzky, according to the power and language relations in Silesia.

origin

The headquarters was Jurczyce (German: Georgendorf ), a district of the Skawina municipality in Greater Poland . The family took the name Jurczycki after their holdings in Jurczyce . Like many Polish noble families, the Counts of Jursitz were impoverished in the 17th century. The headquarters in Georgendorf was sold to the Haller family in 1795. The Polish general Józef Haller von Hallenburg was born on Jurczyce .
