Environmental label jury
The Environmental Label Jury , which includes up to 16 natural persons , decides on the basis for awarding the Blue Angel environmental label . In addition to environmental and consumer advocates , industry and trade unions , craft , trade , media and the churches are represented in the jury .
14 members of the jury are appointed by the Federal Environment Minister for three years with the participation of the Chairman of the Conference of Environment Ministers . The Federal Environment Minister Sigmar Gabriel in 2007, newly appointed "eco-label jury" selected on their inaugural meeting in Berlin the scientific staff of the Research Institute of the Evangelical Studies Community , Volker Teichert, he acts as the new chairman as of today (April 2019). Teichert aimed to align environmental labeling more closely with environmental policy priorities such as climate protection and the protection of biological diversity.
Consumer-oriented products should be a focus of the labeling. In addition, the jury not only wants to accept nominations in future, but also to approach interested label recipients from the industry.
