Jutta Profijt
Jutta Profijt (* 1967 in Ratingen as Jutta Schlepütz) is a German writer of novels, detective novels and non-fiction. Her thrillers from the Kühlfach series are best known, in which the ghost of a dead petty criminal is up to mischief in the Cologne Institute for Forensic Medicine. The series has been translated into English.
Life
Jutta Profijt graduated from the Geschwister-Scholl-Schule in Ratingen in 1986 (today Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker-Gymnasium). She then went to Cognac, France, where she first worked as an au pair and later as a Hôtesse d'acceuil in the cognac company Otard. After her return, she completed an apprenticeship as a wholesale and foreign trade clerk (specializing in foreign trade) at Mannesmann Demag Sack in Düsseldorf-Rath. At the same time, she passed the foreign language correspondent exams in English and French at the Düsseldorf Chamber of Commerce. Later the translator exams for Business English and Business French at the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie de Paris were added.
After several positions as a clerk and project manager in mechanical and plant engineering, Profijt started her own business in 1996 as a translator and lecturer for business English and business French. She has lived from writing since 2006.
She published her first detective novel Motiv: Münsterschatz (2003), which takes place in Mönchengladbach. After further publications with and without a publisher, Jutta Profijt's novels have been published by dtv since 2009 . The author is a member of the author network Das Syndikat . In 2009 and 2018, as a member of the jury, she awarded the Friedrich Glauser Prize in the Debut category to Lucie Klassen ( The 13th Letter ) and Harald J. Marburger (Gravedigger's Spaetzle).
For Tandem Verlag she wrote six learning thrillers in easy French with 100 exercises.
The author lives with her husband in the Lower Rhine province.
