The Tandem Verlag was a family business that was founded in 1994 by Herbert Ullmann. In 2013 the management passed to Florian Ullmann. The publisher has not been active since February 2016.

The publishing house was operated as an imprint of the Tandem Verlag until the end of 2011 and was then operated independently. The publishing house is headed by Herbert Ullmann. The publisher has been publishing illustrated non-fiction books on the subjects of knowledge, nature and the environment, enjoyment, lifestyle, architecture, art and photography since 2007. The works are currently translated into up to 15 languages and sold in around 60 countries worldwide. The world bestseller 1000 Places to see before you by Patricia Schultz was published in April 2006 in a German translation by hfullmann . With 750,000 copies sold, the book topped the annual travel book statistics several times. In 2008 hf ullmann received two awards at the Gourmand World Cookbook Award . Is housed hf ullmann in the same premises as well as the Tandem Verlag in Potsdam, another sister publishers of Vista Point Verlag and the there-Hagenhausen publishing under the umbrella of Rheinisch-Brandenburg publishing holding company .
