Jutta Schnitzer-Mischief

Jutta Schnitzer-Ungefug (* 1953 in Mannheim ) is a German neurobiologist and general secretary of the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina .

Career

Schnitzer-Ungefug studied biology and chemistry for teaching at grammar schools at the Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg . She received her doctorate there in 1981 at the Institute of Neurobiology and worked as a research assistant until 1982. From 1982 to 1992 she was a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research in Frankfurt am Main. In 1989 she completed her habilitation at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and in 1991 received the license to teach zoology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

From 1992 to 2000 she was scientific advisor to the chairman of the board at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) in Berlin-Buch. In 1996 she received the license to teach neurobiology at the Charité , medical faculty of the Humboldt University in Berlin.

In 2000 she was appointed as an adjunct professor for neurobiology at the Charité. In the same year she became general secretary of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina .

She has been a member of the Demography Advisory Board of the State of Saxony-Anhalt since 2010. Since 2011 she has been chairwoman of the board of trustees of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU).
