Kõinastu laid is an Estonian island in the Baltic Sea .

Kõinastu laid ( laid means "small island" in Estonian ) is located north between the Estonian islands Saaremaa and Muhu in the island area of Väinameri .
Administratively it belongs to the rural community Saaremaa ( Saare district ). The island is 2.62 km². Its circumference is 8.4 km. The island's landscape is very diverse. 369 plant species alone have been identified on it.
Kõinastu laid was first mentioned in the Middle Ages under the name Drotzenholm . Since the beginning of the 16th century there were two farms on the island, and later even a small village. In 1834 there were still 73 inhabitants. In 1965 almost all of the residents left Kõinastu laid, but there are now a few summer houses on the island. In the island of the same village ( Kõinastu küla today) lives only a resident.
Kõinastu laid is mainly used as grazing land for sheep . In the north of the island there is a lighthouse ( Kõinastu tulepaak ).
