people
Founded in the spring of 2004 and headed by Andreas Henseler, the municipal elections in September 2004 made it into the Cologne city council and three district councils. Until 2002, Henseler was head of school for the city of Cologne and changed to the post of managing director of the Odysseum . Another prominent member is the former SPD city councilor Anita Cromme, who resigned her council mandate in 2006, but ran as a top candidate for the Cologne-Mülheim district council in 2009 . With the resignation of MP Petra May, the group has only had one mandate in the city council since December 2006. In the election for Lord Mayor in 2009, the Free Voters of Cologne made Martin Müser, their own candidate. He achieved a result of 1.71% of the vote.
In the municipal elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2014 , the Cologne Free Voters received 0.85% of the vote and thus a seat in the Cologne City Council. After Martin Müser resigned his council mandate at an annual general meeting, Klaus Hoffmann succeeded him. In 2013 Hoffmann resigned his mandate in order to be able to take up the position as the newly elected chairman of the city sports association. Andreas Henseler took over the council mandate. Since January 1, 2016, Walter Wortmann, previously deputy board spokesman and spokesman for the Rodenkirchen district, has been Henseler's successor in the council until the next local election.
Peter Funk is the chairman, Horst Jarre and Dursun Alaca are vice chairmen. In the south of Cologne, Torsten Ilg sits for the FWK in the Cologne-Rodenkirchen district representation . The FWK are represented by Rolf Kremers in the Cologne-Lindenthal regional office. Both Ilg and Kremers were elected as representatives of the AfD in the respective district councils, but have since left this party.
