The Queen Sirikit Convention Center ( Thai : ศูนย์ ประชุม แห่ง ชาติ สิริ กิ ต ; English: Queen Sirikit [National] Convention Center) is a modern congress and exhibition building in Bangkok , Thailand , which is designed in Thai architecture.

Location and facilities

The main hall of the congress center and the surrounding complex covers around 35,000 . The plenary hall can hold around 5,000 people.

The Convention Center is located in Khlong Toei on Ratchadapisek Street between Sukhumvit and Rama IV Streets . The Bangkok subway station is within walking distance of the exhibition grounds .

history

The building was originally intended for the 46th annual meeting of the World Bank / IMF and was started in 1989. It is named after Queen Sirikit and was opened by her together with King Bhumibol Adulyadej on August 29, 1991.
