history

The house was assigned to General Staff Officer Major Reimar von Kleist in 1759 by Friedrich II of Prussia in recognition of his military achievements as a Freihaus .

In 1920 the Jerratsch brothers acquired the property from Bürgerliche Brauhaus GmbH. They ran an agricultural machinery business there until the end of the 1920s and also manufactured ship equipment.

In 1929 the property became the property of Wilhelm and Olga Rosenhagen, who in the following years initiated considerable renovations and new buildings. In the middle of the property was a central building several stories high, which housed a carpentry and a locksmith's shop as well as an electrical workshop. The stables on the Havel side were replaced by garages for threshing machines and automobiles as well as a Shell petrol station. None of these buildings have survived today.

Later resided on the grounds of VEB Elektrowerkstätten Havelberg, which was converted in 1965 into the VEB repair and service combine "Rediko".

After the fall of the Wall , the former Freihaus was used for a short time by Dirk Rossmann GmbH , which later also acquired it in order to build a new branch on Uferstrasse. The originally planned restoration of the cultural monument was not implemented.
