Marcin Baran
Marcin Baran , with the pseudonym MET (born November 16, 1963 in Krakow ) is a Polish poet and editor .
Life
Baran attended high school in Kraków , where he graduated from high school in 1982. He then took up a degree in Polish Studies at the Jagiellonian University . In 1985 he presented his poems to the public for the first time in the independent Krakow magazine NaGłos . In 1987 he made his debut as a poet under the pseudonym MET with his poems in the magazine brulion , of which he was a co-founder and in which he published his poems until 1990. After completing his master's degree in 1987, he began a doctoral thesis, which he did not finish. From 1987 to 1988 and from 1990 to 1991 he worked for the publishing house Wydawnictwo Literackie in Krakow. In 1991 he also began working as a radio journalist and worked for the radio stations Radio Kraków (1991, 1993–1995) and Radio Mariackie (1992–1993). In 1993 he published together with Marcin Świetlicki and Marcin Sendecki the poem Wiersz wspólny (półfinałowy) , which is considered the manifesto of the group of poets around the magazine brulion .
In 1996 he started working for TVP , for which he edited cultural programs and documentaries about writers. From 1996 to 2004 he was co-organizer of the Warszawa Pisarzy Festival . From 2000 to 2004 he also worked for Przekrój magazine . In 2003 he co-founded the Stowarzyszenie Miłośników Kryminału i Powieści Sensacyjnej "Trup w szafie" and was part of the jury for the Wielki Kaliber Prize with interruptions . From 2004 to 2006 he was editor of Arte magazine and until 2007 head of the cultural department of Radio Kraków. From 2009 to 2011 he was deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper Dziennik Polski . In 2012 he started working at the Historical Museum in Krakow, where he took over the publishing management in 2013. In 2016 he was program director of the Silesius International Poetry Festival.
He lives in Krakow.
