After graduating from high school in 1980, he began studying Polish at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow . After his de-registration in December 1981, he successfully passed the entrance examination again in 1982. During his studies he worked for the student radio and in 1984 published poetry in the independent magazine NaGłos . He was then de-registered again and was called up for military service in Słupsk until 1986 . He then worked for a few months as an educator in a boarding school in Lublin until he moved to Krakow in 1987. There he initially worked as a night watchman and from 1988 to 1990 as a messenger and employee of the Secretariat of Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Sztuk Pięknych. After the system change in Poland, he was hired in 1991 as a proofreader and text editor in the newspaper Tygodnik Powszechny , for which he worked until 2004 and in which he published poems and reviews. He was also associated with the magazine brulion , where he published the poem Wiersz współny (półfinałowy) , written together with Marcin Baran and Marcin Sendecki in 1993, which is considered a manifesto for the poets around this magazine. Back in Poland he founded the rock group Świetliki with members of the Krakow band Trupa Wertera Utrata in 1992 , for which he wrote lyrics and performed as a singer. He also directed music programs on the radio, first on Radio Mariackie , then on Radio Kraków and Radiostacja . In 1994 he was awarded the Paszport Polityki for his poetry, but did not accept the award. In 1995 he spent a short time in Berlin as part of the scholarship from the Literaturwerkstatt Berlin . In 1996 he was honored with the Kościelski Prize for his lyrical oeuvre . In the following years he appeared occasionally as an actor, for example in the leading role in the 1998 televised play Małżowina by Wojciech Smarzowski and in 2002 in the feature film Anioł w Krakowie by Artur Więcek . With Grzegorz Dyduch , he moderated the cultural magazine Pegaz from 2000 to 2002 and conducted interviews for the magazines Przekrój , Gazeta Wyborcza and Wysokie Obcasy . In addition, in 2003 he co-founded the Stowarzyszenie Miłośników Kryminału i Sensacji "Trup w szafie" and was a juror for the Wielki Kaliber Prize , which has been awarded since 2004. He made his debut as a crime story writer in 2005. He returned to Radio Kraków with music programs from 2006 to 2007 and in 2009 went to Roxy FM . He was then a member of the editorial board of the spoken magazine Gadający pies from 2010 to 2015 .
