Marcin Sendecki

Marcin Sendecki (born November 27, 1967 in Gdańsk ) is a Polish poet , publicist and translator .

Life

Sendecki was born in Gdańsk in 1967. In 1968 his family moved to Tomaszów Lubelski , where he attended high school from 1982. As a high school student he made his debut with the poems Bajka and Popłudnie , which were published in the Tygodnik Zamojski .

In 1986 he graduated from high school and studied medicine at the Warsaw Medical Academy . In 1987 he joined the Krakow quarterly brulion , in which he published poems until 1994. One of these poems is the poem Wiersz wspólny (półfinałowy) published in 1993 , which he wrote together with Marcin Baran and Marcin Świetlicki and which is considered a manifesto for the circle of poets surrounding this magazine.

In 1990 he broke off his medical studies and began studying sociology at the University of Warsaw . In 1996 he received his master's degree and began a doctoral degree , which he finished in 2002 without a doctorate.

From 2001 to 2011 he was editor of the weekly Przekrój , in which he wrote the feature section from 2010 to 2011 under the title W tym tygodniu nie piszemy o… .

In 2003 he was a fellow of the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa .

In 2011 he became a member of the jury for the Wielki Kaliber literary award . In 2012 he began to publish reviews in Gazeta Wyborcza newspaper and to work in Książki magazine.

He lives in Warsaw.
