Paszport Polityki

The Paszport Polityki is a Polish culture prize that has been awarded by the weekly political magazine Polityka since 1993 . It is the longest-running cultural award in Poland.

Surname

The name of the Paszport Prize ( German  passport ) is intended to be proof of the artistic identity and international standing of the artist.

Categories

Since the creation of the prize in 1993, it has been awarded in the categories of film ( film ), literature ( Literatura ), theater ( Teatr ), music ( Muzyka ), sculpture ( Plastyka ) and stage ( Estrada ). In 2002 the category creator Kultury was created. In 2004 the plastic category was renamed to Visual Arts ( Sztuki Wizualne ) and the Music category to Serious or Classical Music ( Muzyka Poważna ). 2006 saw the change of name for the stage in pop music category ( Muzyka Popularna ). In 2016 the first prize in the Digital Culture category ( Kultura Cyfrowa ) was awarded.

Election and jury

The winner is chosen in two stages:

First, art critics, experts and scholars nominate what they think are the most interesting artists and groups in each category. The three artists and / or groups that receive the most registrations will be nominated automatically.

On the day before the awards gala, the jury, made up of journalists from Polityka magazine, selects the winners in each category. In addition, the winner is determined in the category creator of culture.
