Jacek Dehnel (born May 1, 1980 in Danzig ) is a Polish writer , translator and painter .

Life

Jacek Dehnel attended the Stefan Żeromski -Gymnasium in Oliva and then studied Polish language and literature in Warsaw . Since then, Dehnel has worked in Warsaw as a poet, prose writer, translator and painter. He became internationally known in 2006 with his novel Lala .

In 2005 Dehnel received the Kościelski Prize and in 2007 the Paszport Polityki from the Polish weekly Polityka . In 2010 his collection of poems Ekran kontrolny ( control screen ) was nominated for the most important literary award in Poland, the Nike Literature Prize.

Renate Schmidgall has translated works by Dehnel into German.
