Kościelski Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kościelski Prize (actually the Kościelski Foundation Prize, Polish: Nagroda Fundacji im. Kościelskich ) is a Polish literary award. The foundation was established in 1959 by Monika Kościelska, the widow of the publisher and poet Władysław August Kościelski , in exile in Switzerland. The prize was first awarded in Geneva in 1962 . According to the foundation statutes, the best Polish-speaking prose and poetry writers under forty should be honored with it every year. The number of winners, who are determined by a jury, is not fixed. Until 1989 the handover celebrations took place in Geneva, since then alternately in Warsaw and Krakow . The prize money depends on the interest income and the number of recipients.
