Włodzimierz Odojewski (born June 14, 1930 in Poznan , † July 20, 2016 in Piaseczno ) was a Polish writer .

Life

Odejewski was the son of a musician. He graduated from high school in Szczecin and then studied economics and sociology in Poznan. Odojewski made his debut in 1951 with his short story Adieu to Security , which was read on Polish radio. For many years he was the director of the Contemporary Theater Studio of Polish Radio , where his first radio plays were published. In 1968 he was dismissed from the radio for political reasons after the March 1968 unrest in Poland and emigrated to Paris in 1971 . He moved from Paris to Munich and became an editor at Radio Free Europe . Here he worked in the culture department until 1994. In 1989 Odojewski returned to Poland and from then on lived alternately in Warsaw and Munich.
