Maciej Niemiec

Life
Before Niemiec emigrated to Paris in 1987, he published his poems underground, although they were never political. During this time, and also after his arrival in Paris, he was associated with Catholic circles. In France his poems appeared in the Paris magazine PO & SIE . After the political change in his home country, he published there in the quarterly Zeszyty Literackie (literary books). In Germany they were published by Akzente . The poet did not live to see the publication of his last two works in Poland and a planned edition in German. After years of illness, he committed suicide in Paris. He was there in the Père-Lachaise cemetery buried.
