Jacek Podsiadło
Jacek Podsiadło (born November 7, 1964 in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski ) is a Polish poet , prose writer , publicist and translator .
Life
Podsiadło attended the primary school in Szewna from 1970 to 1978 and then from 1979 to 1981 the grammar school in Ostrowiec Świetokrzyski. From 1983 to 1985 he worked first in the local hut and then as a security guard on construction sites in Warsaw .
In 1984 he made his debut as a poet with the poems Jakby ja and Umieranie , which were published in the weekly Na Przełaj . In 1985 he joined the International of Anarchist Federations . In the following years he won several Polish literary competitions. In 1988/1989 he co-founded the magazine Dobry Jaśko , which was published by the Ruch Wolność i Pokój movement. In 1989 he was editor of the magazine Krzywe Koło Literatury .
In 1990 he moved to Dobrzeń Wielki and worked for Radio Opole , where, with interruptions until 2008, he directed the programs Studnia about alternative art and Zielone granice about ethnic music. 1991 began his long-term collaboration with the magazine brulion . In 1998 he was awarded the Kościelski Prize .
From 1999 to 2008 he was head of the Pogotowie literackie section in Nowa Trybuna Opolska . From 2000 to 2007 he wrote features for the newspaper Tygodnik Powszechny and from 2008 to 2011 for the monthly Znak .
From 1999 to 2005 he made several trips abroad by bicycle or on horseback, for example to Ukraine , Belarus , Romania , Albania and Estonia .
In 2009 he was awarded the Polonia Restituta Officer's Order.
In 2015 he was awarded the Silesius Wroclaw Poetry Prize for his oeuvre .

His poetry is related to the Polish Baroque poetry , with the poetry of Edward Stachura and Stanisław Barańczak and the New York School ( Frank O'Hara ).
