Maja Kleczewska

Maja Kleczewska (* 1973 ) is a Polish theater director.

Maja Kleczewska studied theater directing at the Cracow State Theater School PWST . Already in the 1990s she assisted Krzysztof Warlikowski in Warsaw . She made her directorial debut in 2000 at the Slowacki Theater in Krakow . She had her first successes with productions in the Polish provinces. She staged at the theaters in Jelenia Góra , Wałbrzych , Opole and Kalisz . The final breakthrough came in 2006 with her adaptation of Midsummer Night's Dream at Teatr Stary in Krakow. In the same year she was awarded the Paszport Prize for Young Polish Artists by the Polish weekly magazine Polityka . In February 2009 her version of Shakespeare's Tempest premiered at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin .
