Maja Ostaszewska (born September 3, 1972 in Krakow ) is a Polish actress .

Maja Ostaszewska is the daughter of the musician Jacek Ostaszewski . In 1996 she graduated from the State Drama School PWST Krakow. Since completing her studies, she has mainly worked at the Warsaw Teatr Rozmaitości , where she works with the directors Krystian Lupa , Krzysztof Warlikowski and Grzegorz Jarzyna .

In 1993, while she was still studying to be an actor, she played a small role in Steven Spielberg 's Schindler's List . Her actual film debut was in 1997 with the television film Przystan . For this role she received the Best Actress Award at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia in 1998 . She was able to repeat this success with the role of the nun Leonia at the side of Andrzej Seweryn and Zbigniew Zamachowski in Teresa Kotlarczyk's film Prymas about the life of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński in 2000. In addition to cinema and theater work, she also appears in television series. Since August 11, 2007 she has been the mother of one son. In 2007 she played the leading female role in Andrzej Wajda's Oscar-nominated film The Katyn Massacre .
