Artur Ruciński (born April 25, 1976 in Warsaw ) is a Polish opera singer with a baritone voice .

Life

Ruciński studied at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in his hometown and made his debut in 2001 as Papageno in The Magic Flute at the Warsaw Chamber Opera . In the following year he was invited by the Polish National Opera to take on the title role in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin . This was followed by Prince Jeletzki in Tchaikovsky's Queen of Spades , conducted by Valery Gergiev , and in 2008 Valentin in a Robert Wilson production of Gounod's Faust . At the Warsaw Opera, Ruciński was able to develop a broad repertoire of roles, ranging from Mozart's Papageno, his Guglielmo ( Così fan tutte ) and Almaviva ( Le nozze di Figaro ) to the classical bel canto parts to Puccini , Tchaikovsky and modern composers . He sang Ford in Verdi's Falstaff , Sharpless and Lescaut in Puccini's operas Madama Butterfly and Manon Lescaut, and Gradier in Penderecki's The Devils of Loudun . The memorial concert on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the National Socialist attack on Poland in Gdańsk with Benjamin Britten's War Requiem received international attention. In May 2010 he was involved in the opening gala of the Wiener Festwochen at Vienna City Hall Square , which was broadcast live to more than 25 countries. In 2011 he made his debut at the Dresden Philharmonic in Krzysztof Penderecki's St. Luke Passion . His first appearance in Great Britain followed in January 2012: Artur Ruciński was invited to sing a Rosenblatt recital in London's St John's Concert Hall in Smith Square . The Rosenblatt Recitals are a series of solo evenings by aspiring or already recognized opera singers. In addition to a number of arias, he also sang Tadeusz Baird's Four Love Sonnets , based on Polish translations of Shakespeare sonnets .
