Anna Augustynowicz

Anna Augustynowicz (born April 1, 1959 in Dębica ) is a Polish theater director and since 1992 artistic director of the Teatr Współczesny in Szczecin .

Life

Augustynowicz studied theater studies at the Jagiellonian University and directing at the State Theater School in Krakow and graduated in 1989. She was a student of Krystian Lupa . During her student days she experienced her first great success with her directorial debut Życie Wewnętrzne by Marek Koterski in 1989 in the theater in Kalisz . In 1992 she became artistic director of the Teatr Współczesny in Szczecin. In the same year she opened the Malarnia stage (painter's hall) within the theater , where small experimental productions are performed. Anna Augustynowicz is one of the most respected theater directors of the younger generation of Polish theater makers and has received numerous awards for her work.
