Apollon Musagète Quartet
The Apollon Musagète Quartet (abbreviated: AMQ) is a Polish string quartet that was founded in Vienna in 2006 and became internationally known in 2008 when it won the ARD music competition in the string quartet category. The ensemble plays the common quartet literature from Johann Sebastian Bach to modern times, with special emphasis on Polish music.
Members
Name and education
The quartet was named after the Greek god Apollon , the protector of the arts and "leader of the muses " (Greek Apollon musagetes , French Apollon musagète ). A ballet composition by Igor Stravinsky also bears the name Apollon musagète .
The Apollon Musagète Quartet studied with Johannes Meissl at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and at the European Chamber Music Academy . The members of the Alban Berg Quartet were also among the ensemble's mentors .

Concerts
The ensemble made its debut in the Wiener Musikverein (2009), in the Great Hall of the Berlin Philharmonic (2010), in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam (2011) and in New York's Carnegie Hall (2012).
The quartet appears regularly in prominent chamber music cycles all over the world, also plays in extended chamber music formations and the like. a. with Gabriela Montero , Martin Fröst , Jörg Widmann , Angelika Kirchschlager , Alexander Lonquich . The ensemble also cooperated with the BBC Symphony Orchestra , the Dresden Philharmonic , the Heidelberg Philharmonic, the Wroclaw Chamber Orchestra Leopoldinum and other ensembles in the performance of works for string quartet and orchestra.
In the crossover area, the ensemble worked intensively with Tori Amos , who invited the quartet to participate in their album Night of Hunters, published by Deutsche Grammophon , and the subsequent European and American concert tour.
