Alexander Lonquich ['lonkviç]. (Born August 28, 1960 in Trier ) is a German pianist .
Live and act
The son of the German composer Heinz Martin Lonquich studied piano with Astrid Schmid-Neuhaus, Paul Badura-Skoda , Andrzej Jasiński and Ilona Deckers. At the age of 16 he won first prize at the Concorso Pianistico Internazionale Alessandro Casagrande, the international piano competition founded in 1966 in Terni, Italy . He then began an intensive international concert activity as a soloist and chamber music partner and played under the direction of conductors such as Claudio Abbado , Heinz Holliger , Ton Koopman , Emmanuel Krivine , Mark Minkowski , Kurt Sanderling and Sándor Végh with orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich , the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra , the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra , the Philharmonic Orchestra of Luxembourg and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra . A long-standing collaboration, documented by several CD recordings, connects him with Frank Peter Zimmermann . His participation in the world premiere of folded , a “choreographic concert” by Sasha Waltz and Mark Andre , with which the International Mozarteum Foundation opened its 2012 Mozart Week , caused a sensation . Lonquich gives concerts at all major European festivals as well as guest performances in Japan , the USA and Australia not only as a soloist, but also in the double function as a conductor / soloist with orchestras such as the Camerata Salzburg , the Munich Chamber Orchestra , the Basel Chamber Orchestra , the Orchestra da Camera di Mantova, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen , the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra . He is also a chamber music partner of fellow artists such as the Auryn Quartet , Carolin Widmann and Frank Peter Zimmermann .
