Heinz Martin Lonquich

Heinz Martin Lonquich (born March 23, 1937 in Trier ; † July 23, 2014 in Cologne ) was a German composer , church musician and deacon .

Life

Lonquich studied at the music academies in Saarbrücken and Cologne ( piano with Alexander Sellier, composition with Bernd Alois Zimmermann , electronic music with Herbert Eimert ). From 1958 to 1973 he worked at the municipal theaters of Münster, Braunschweig and Cologne as a solo repetitor and conductor , in addition to which he was also a song accompanist. From 1969 to 1972 he was a member of Group 8 Cologne . From 1973 to 2002 he was a lecturer for repetition at the Cologne University of Music and church musician at St. Nikolaus in Cologne-Sülz , since 1976 also permanent deacon there . In 2003 he retired. He died after a long illness on July 23, 2014 in Cologne. The pianist Alexander Lonquich (* 1960) is his son.

Lonquich was buried on August 1, 2014 after the Resurrection Mass in the Church of St. Pius in Cologne-Zollstock on the Südfriedhof (hallway 75, No. 112).

Works

Lonquich created numerous compositions for a wide variety of instrumentations in almost all genres with a focus on piano and chamber music , solo singing and sacred music ; including many New Spiritual Songs . Various recordings of his works, including various productions of songs, piano and chamber music works, were made by the WDR Cologne.
