Royal Academy of Sciences and Fine Arts of Belgium
Royal Academy of Sciences and Fine Arts of Belgium means mostly
- The Belgian Royal Academy of Sciences, which dates back to 1769, was elevated to Caesarea ac Regia Scientiarum et Litterarum Academia Bruxellis (Imperial and Royal Academy of Sciences in Brussels) by decree of Empress Maria Theresa in 1772 , and was split up in 1971 as a result of the state reform of 1970 . The division in 1971 created:
- The French-speaking successor organization Académie royale des Sciences, des Lettres et des Beaux-Arts de Belgique (ARB) ("Royal Belgian Academy of Natural Sciences, Humanities and Fine Arts")
- The equivalent Dutch- speaking successor organization Koninklijke Vlaamse Academie van België voor Wetenschappen en Kunsten (KVAB) ("Royal Flemish-Belgian Academy of Sciences and Arts").
- The coordinating association The Royal Academies for Science and the Arts of Belgium (RASAB) founded by these two academies in 2001 ("The Belgian Royal Academies of Science and Art").
- Remarks
- The ARBA, Académie royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles ("Royal Art Academy"), which is often confused with ARB, is a university based in Brussels.
- Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten (KASK) (“Royal Academy of Arts”) is the name given to several Flemish educational institutions for fine arts at university level. Because Belgium is bilingual, each of these institutions can also appear as an “Académie royale” .
