The article Caesarea ac Regia Scientiarum et Litterarum Academia Bruxellis deals with the history of the two present-day Royal Belgian Academies of Sciences , namely the Académie royale des Sciences, des Lettres et des Beaux-Arts de Belgique and the Koninklijke Vlaamse Academie van België voor Wetenschappen en Kunsten as well as the umbrella organization The Royal Academies for Science and the Arts of Belgium supported by these academies .

They go back to a literary society founded in 1769 , which was elevated to the Academy Caesarea ac Regia Scientiarum et Litterarum Academia Bruxellis in 1772 with a patent from Empress Maria Theresa . The name La Thérésienne , which is still used, was also created in the official language of that time, French .
