House Königsgarten 9 in the small town of Deidesheim in the Palatinate is a landmark building that is under monument protection.

location

The house is located on the Königsgarten in the southern part of Deidesheim, into which the Königsgartenstraße and Bleichstraße flow. The German Wine Route runs to the east . The “Landau Gate” of the city ​​fortifications with front gate and kennel used to stand here .

building

The house is a plastered building with two floors, sandstone structures and a hipped roof . It was constructed as a single-story building in the 1820s and previously served as the home of a winery. In 1929 it was redesigned with expressionist motifs based on the construction plan of the architect Wendel Kerbeck; the entrance was relocated from the Weinstrasse to the Königsgarten and the building was extended by another floor. On the upper floor, the windows are provided with typical expressionist cladding , on the east and south sides there is a very flat bay window.

Today the house houses a café.

Worth mentioning

In the cellar of this house, Carl Platz invented the Deidesheim vineyard sprayer. The original is exhibited today in the Deutsches Museum in Munich.
