The Köpetdag Stadium ( Turkmen Köpetdag stadiony ) is a football stadium with an athletics facility in the Turkmen capital Ashgabat . It is mainly used for soccer games and is the home ground of the FC Köpetdag soccer club . Until it was closed in 2008, the Köpetdag Aşgabat club was also the tenant of the stadium. The facility offers space for 26,503 spectators. It is also used by the Turkmen national soccer team for international matches.
history
The stadium was built in 1997 by the international company Mensel JV. Since it opened, it has served as the venue for FC Köpetdag.
In 2015, the sports facility underwent extensive renovations and was reopened in 2015 with a Turkmenistan Cup game between Köpetdag and FC Merw .
