Köpings klint is an inland cliff coast on the Swedish Baltic Sea island of Öland .

The cliff extends between the towns of Borgholm and Köpingsvik . Road 136 runs from Färjestaden to Byxelkrok at the foot of the cliff on the side facing the sea .

The rock formation itself was formed 500 million years ago. It was designed as a steep bank about 10,000 years ago, when the waves of the Kalmar Sound, which is now a few 100 meters north, struck here. Limestone was extracted from the cliff until the 1940s .

The grave field on the Köpings klint is located on the cliff . The site known as the Galgerör, which was used as a place of execution until 1859, is also located here . The St. Elof source rises in the western part of the cliff .

Saxifrage , stonecrop , white sedum and orchids grow on the cliff .
