The Köthen Plain is a natural area in Saxony-Anhalt . The eponymous city of Köthen is centrally located in this area of around 559 km ² .

The Köthen plain lies between 60 and 80 meters above sea level and has a very flat relief . There are only a few elongated bumps. There are mainly various loess soils and parabrown soils above the underground rock . Pale earths can be found in the northeast . The Köthen plain is bordered by the Fuhne and Saale in the south and west .

The natural area is used intensively for agriculture . Agriculture is of considerable economic importance. Since the plain has largely been cleared of natural space and thus has a certain monotony, the Köthen plain is of no particular importance for nature conservation or recreational tourism. In order to improve the quality of the natural environment, it was proposed to network the woods from the point of view of environmental protection.
