KHWagner

KHWagner is a German artist group founded in 1985 by the married couple Silke and Reiner Nitzsche, which has been operating under the common name KHWagner since 1993 . She lives and works in Dresden .

Vita

Born in 1963 and 1964, the two artists have been united by art as their spiritual home since early childhood. Both grew up in the GDR and had an artistic education. He received early instruction from the painter and wood cutter Heinz Tetzner , a well-known expressionist. She grew up with larger reproductions of Van Gogh , Modigliani and Vermeer in her parents' house.

Over 600 drawings, prints and paintings were created during his youth. A work that KHWagner considered in 2009 with the idea of ​​reframing and the accompanying exhibition Reframing // 82-85 and put it in a new context.

In 1985 both began to study painting / graphics at the Dresden University of Fine Arts with Professors Günther Horlbeck and Gerhard Kettner . In the following years they made numerous study trips, including a. to Russia, Hungary, France, Italy, Austria and the Netherlands. In 1990 they began to study painting at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart, from 1992 with Professors Wolfgang Gäffgen and Rudolf Schoofs . KHWagner was also particularly influenced by the American concept artist Joseph Kosuth, who teaches in Stuttgart .

In 1993, during a one-year study visit to the School of Visual Arts in New York, the work began under the common artist name KHWagner.

Reiner Nitzsche has been a lecturer in media informatics since 2002 with a minor in "Art and Design" at the "New Evening School" of the Dresden University of Fine Arts.

Future research program

In 1999 the group formulated its work program, the future research program . KHWagner is engaged in artistic research and education with the fundamentals of the real future. The work takes place in structures that resemble those of a research laboratory. The focus of the activity is on artistic studies with social and cultural relevance. The results are presented on blue-screen blue surfaces in real rooms, on information leaflets and on the Internet. According to KHWagner, the development of society can be influenced by art, as it has a reflective effect on structures and processes and names them through imagery.
