K2 is a Bavarian dance duo that had its greatest chart success in the mid-1990s with the title Der Berg ruft .

Band history

The project was founded by producer Klaus Munzert and consisted of singer Nina Poethen (* 1971) and rapper Martin Pelz (* 1975). The dancers Nicola Prager, Jeanette Klein, Gabriele Niemann and Daniel Aminati supported them in live performances and in music videos .

K2 combined Eurodance and commercial folklore in a consciously silly and humorous way. Their first single Der Berg ruft , published in 1994, contained original samples by Karl Valentin and Gerhard Polt , the melody of the chorus came from the title I Was Made for Lovin 'You by the rock band KISS . In addition, the melody from the Zillertal wedding march and elements from the Austrian radio play Der Watzmann ruft were used. The mountain calls reached number 3 in the German charts and received a gold award. All the publications that followed could not build on this success. Although Die Nachtigall singt was at least one of the top 20, the album Der Berg ruft , named after the top hit, only sold moderately and the next single, Großer Bär, flopped. Later publications could no longer place themselves in the charts.
