K2 was a Serbian Europop - Duo .

history

The sisters Aleksandra and Kristina Kovač founded the duo K2 (from K ovač x 2 ) in 1990 . Shortly after their founding, they were signed by the London record label "Mismanagement". In 1993 Errol Brown hired the sisters as opening act and background singers for his tour . They returned to Belgrade in 1995 and released their debut album "K2 - Ajmo u Zivot", which reached number 1 in the charts in their home country, followed a year later by the second album "Malo Soula" ("A Little Bit of Soul"). The duo offered a mixture of Europop and R'n'B .

In 1997 the sisters signed a contract with EMI to record an album for the Spanish market. This was published in 1998 under the title "Vamos de Fiesta". Then the duo broke up because Aleksandra wanted to start a career as a solo artist.
