K9copy is a free DVD authoring - software for Linux and is generally considered equivalent to Windows -based DVD Shrink seen.

It compresses the content of a dual-layer video DVD ( DVD-9 ) so that it can be burned onto a single-layer DVD (DVD-5). This is achieved by re-encoding the video track or omitting content such as audio tracks from individual language versions, bonus material, subtitles and menus.

The program makes it possible to save DVDs as ISO images on the hard drive. This image can then be burned onto a DVD using a burning program such as Brasero or K3b . From version 2, K9Copy relies on KDE4 .

K9Copy is included in some popular Linux distributions such as B. Ubuntu can be installed directly from the standard package sources.

In July 2011 it was announced that no further development would take place.

Under the name "K9copy-Reloaded", the project was also resumed in 2011 by another developer at sourceforge and has been continued since then.
